Create Your Own ‘Grounding Stones’

What Are Grounding Stones?

Activity aim:

Is to discuss the idea of grounding ourselves in the present moment, while decorating a river rock and making your own ‘grounding stone’ which potentially can be used as a stress / anxiety reduction technique and to promote wellbeing. You may also choose to make your rock into a paperweight, garden ornament or whatever you would like. There is no pressure to make a ‘grounding stone’.

Procedure:

Wait near this poster till you are invited to take a seat with the lead facilitator.
While waiting for the group to be seated have a look at some examples of ‘stone art’ in the display folders.
When the group is all seated the lead facilitator will discuss what grounding is, and more specifically how rocks/stones can be used for grounding.
You will select a river stone and a simple design from the coloured images in the folders or you can create your own design. You can take a photo of the design or use a pencil to draw the design on paper. After approximately 10 minutes, you will be asked to move to next table.
At the art supplies table, you can help yourself to a wide variety of paint pens to complete your ‘grounding stone’ or whatever you decide it is for. You will have approximately 10 minutes to complete your stone.
When your stone art is complete you can place it on the drying station and enjoy some other freebies or activities while it dries.
Note: We are unable to supervise drying stones
